My name is Lorraine, I am the business owner of Zarre Clothing & Accessories, a small home based business in New Zealand.
I come from a long line of knitters and was taught to knit from the age of six. I love the creativity of choosing patterns, yarns and colours to combine to make something different and often unique. Occasionally, I create my own patterns. I love taking inspiration from nature and the everyday things around me. Most of the yarns I use are made in New Zealand from natural fibres. I love to support fellow crafters who produce hand-spun and hand-dyed yarns, as well as small businesses who also source their products locally.
Zarre began when my passion for knitting beanies needed an outlet. I began selling my knitted creations at Markets around the Waikato and Bay of Plenty. This progressed to creating the Zarre page on Facebook. After a couple of beanies went to a new home in Australia, I decided it was time to share my creations with the world via a website. Zarre is now based in Matarangi on the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula, home to many creative people. The name Zarre came from the word 'BiZarre' meaning out of the ordinary, eclectic and unusual. It also sounds similar to the word Bazaar meaning marketplace.
