Supporting New Zealand Business
I love to support New Zealand small businesses as I now know the time and energy that goes into building and maintaining a small business. It is awesome to see the passion and commitment that small business owners have as well as the creativity of each and every one of them.
Here is a link to an article that was on Radio New Zealand about Skeinz (Design Spun). Skeinz is a mill in Napier where I source some of the yarns that I use to make the Zarre Beanies, Slouchies and Berets.

These are some of the yarns that I buy online from Skeinz. It is makes my day when a parcel of soft, squishy yarn arrives on my doorstep! That's when my imagination starts running riot and the process begins of matching colours, patterns and yarns. I absolutely love it.
I can buy the undyed wool from them too. This is the wool I take to Lynn at Lochanside Alpacas, another small business owner who hand-dyes the gorgeous coloured Wool/Alpaca blend. I just love the excitement that she has about the whole dyeing process. It is great to visit the Alpacas and the Chickens too!
These are some of the gorgeous colours that Lynn has custom created for me.
Another small business owner that I have supported is Melissa Uber-Lopez who is a Fibre Artist in Bannockburn in the South Island. She and her business partner have opened a cute little shop/studio and produce amazing art yarn. I bought some of her 22 micron merino art yarn to make a super special beanie in small and large and a gorgeous earflap beanie. I love the super chunky bobbly effect of Melissa's hand-spun yarn.
I really appreciate working with these talented people who are creative, resouceful and dedicated. They are courageous in stepping out ond becoming small business owners.
